Born from an initiative of the Queensland, the Asia Pacific Screen awards were created to enhance the richness of the various cultures shown through the cinematography existing in this region.
In 2006, Fiapf decided to endorse the Asia Pacific Screen Awards and its charter, a key document ruling the film application, nomination and award process.
In 2007, under the chairmanship of Mr. Des Power, filmmakers, actors, screenwriters, producers originating from countries such as Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Singapore, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Vietnam… participated to the first event, which took place on the Gold Coast (Queensland).
The Fiapf Award to outstanding achievement in film in the Asia Pacific Region was attributed to Australian producer and director, Dr. George Miller.
Best feature film was awarded to Secret Sunshine (Myriang) from Korea.
Through this event, Fiapf wishes to help promoting the best cinematographic works to a global audience and encourage greater collaboration of the filmmakers in the region.
